Welcome Spring by Mark Keathley
Welcome Series
From the Artist:
The seasons of life ebb and flow in a way that teaches us to be patient and wait. Sometimes, we have lean – dry times and other times we have vibrant growing times. It doesn’t mean that something is wrong or that we have been forgotten, or that we are doing it all right and are the “blessed” ones. For the Lord rains down on the just and the unjust alike. He cares for everyone alike and he longs to see them find fullness and renewal in their lives. In Welcome Spring, I’ve depicted the exciting time of life when the fragrance of life is wonderful, too much to contain, and the beauty spills over for all to see. The excitement of new birth and buds awakens the senses, makes us feel alive and gives us the promise that the cold winters of our lives will not always be. There are such hope and expectation in the spring, and I hope this painting stirs up that longing in your heart to see things grow and blossom. Go ahead and plant the seeds of acceptance with your estranged son or wayward daughter; dig up the weeds of resentment and jealousy with someone you have grown to dislike, and replace them with the fragrant flowers of forgiveness and love. It is a time for renewal.

Nature's Harmony by Mark Keathley
Artist Notes:
I fell in love with the moss-covered rocks and fallen logs that surround the streams in the deep valleys of the Smoky Mountains. Tromping through the woods is very exciting to me. Every turn of the stream has a new vantage point that makes me go, “Wow!” I haven’t gotten to see any wild bears — I guess that is good — but I did find these in a nearby wildlife habitat. The old settlers’ cabin and split rail fence is still there today leftover from the days when the land was donated to the National Parks Service, and the last of the old-timers lived out their days scratching corn out of self-cleared meadows. The woods have re-invaded the farmland and only this small strip of land is left at this farm, but it made a beautiful location to paint. Every time I see such a spot, I wonder what kind of people could survive so isolated and alone. Then I remember they weren’t alone. Certainly, they had a large family, some unexpected visitors like the ones in this painting, and a confident belief in their God and His claim, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” to take with them into the wilderness.
